Medicinal beers

Medicinal beers main image20. Feb. 2020

Beer is not a bad drink, but a medicine…….it increases the substance, it turns into blood.” Therefore it is also a nutrient and nourishment, Paracelsus let us know. He's probably right about that, because a good beer - drunk in moderation - keeps you healthy. (The healing power of beer by Heidelore Kluge 2008)

  • Beer contains polyphenols, which have an antioxidant effect as free radical scavengers.
  • Brewer's yeast is a good source of vitamin B.
  • Because of the lactic acid bacteria and yeast, beer has a probiotic effect and improves the intestinal flora.
  • Beer relaxes and soothes. Those who drink beer are said to have a 30 percent lower chance of developing shaking paralysis.
  • Beer cleans the arteries. Prof. Walter Willet (Harvard) tells us "Not drinking is a risk factor for heart attack".
  • Beer stimulates the metabolism, there is less constipation.
  • Beer is a good diuretic, it stimulates the kidneys and reduces the risk of kidney stones.
  • Because of the silicic acid it contains, it strengthens the bones.

In folk medicine, beer has always been considered a proven home remedy:

  • a hot beer - don't boil it, just heat it to about 78 degrees - helps with cold and flu.
  • Root beer is good for pregnant and breastfeeding women. It strengthens and nourishes.
  • Beer produces milk because it contains the hormone prolactin.
  • Applied externally, Biersatz cleanses and cares for the skin.
