The Bavarian Forest is known as Europe’s most beautiful low mountain landscape, remarkable natural park in Germany and impressive magic forest in Bavaria. When speaking of the forest itself, it is usually meant the breathtaking cultural landscape in the east of Bavaria on the border to Bohemia. Endless hiking trails in untouched nature and a wide range of leisure and cultural activities in every season have made the Bavarian Forest one of the famous family holiday regions in Germany.

The winter in the Bavarian Forest is like a wonderland of forest and snow. Next to you a snow-covered tree top, above you the bright blue sky and in front of you nothing but limitless snow fun - this is winter holidays in the Bavarian Forest. The DIEDRICH Wellnesshotel & Spa was founded here in 1898 and has been run by the family ever since. They have transformed their traditional house into a unique wellness and well-being domicile. The Spa am See is located between the two buildings that make up the Wellnesshotel Ritzenhof. The underground wellness oasis opens directly onto the shore of Lake Ritzensee with a private sunbathing lawn. There you can doze in one of the shell and floating loungers with the sound of the reeds in your ears. An indoor pool, Finnish sauna, textile sauna, steam bath, sanarium, infrared cabin and massages or beauty treatments tailored to your individual needs await you in the spa by the lake.

In winter, the cross-country ski trail runs right past the spa and provides access to the region's extensive network of trails. Some people also chase their childhood memories on ice skates on the frozen Ritzensee or simply warm themselves by the flickering fire.
