We are in South Tyrol in the gentle region around the small and large Monticolo/Montiggler lakes, around 15 kilometers south of Bolzano/Bozen. While summer is celebrated at the neighboring Lake Kaltern, the two Monticolo lakes are considered insider tips for those seeking peace and quiet. At around 700 and 300 meters in length, they stand for crystal-clear water and pure idyll.

Welcome to the Gartenhotel Moser, which is located directly on the large Montiggl lake. The forest, water and garden are the defining elements of a successful vacation here. In April 2024, the garden hotel will come back to life after a comprehensive renovation. Sustainable construction methods and energy recovery, large window fronts that open up views of the surroundings and green wooden struts on the exterior façade allow the hotel to merge with nature. All public areas such as the lobby, restaurant and 18 suites have a completely new look with lots of wood, stone and warm, earthy colors. The highlight of the hotel is the new adults-only infinity pool with relaxation rooms and fitness studio on the roof.

Family-run business
The hotel has been owned by the Moser family for over 60 years. The lush gardens with winding paths, birdwatching station, hidden power spots and natural bathing pond, which invite you to relax all around, gave the hotel its name. With its location in the middle of a nature reserve, it is ideal for a short or longer break. While the neighboring Lake Kaltern is widely known as a vacation destination, the two Montiggl lakes are still real insider tips. "We are really looking forward to delighting guests again with the new Gartenhotel Moser and our unique location," says Wolfgang Moser. Together with his wife Christine, he has been running the business for around 40 years. While Wolfgang, as a visionary, is constantly driving forward new projects and offers, Christine, as hostess, enriches the hotel with her heart and passion. With her empathy for people and nature, she provides a calming influence for a feel-good atmosphere.

Welcome to Wellness
Time out with a view: The wellness highlight from 2024 is the adults-only infinity pool on the roof of the hotel. A wide range of spa and activity options with Ayurveda and yoga elements as well as a stylish sauna area complete the wellness concept.
"Sanum per aquam" - health through water is the title of the hotel's spa menu. In addition to classic massages and beauty treatments, the spa team also offers treatments in the floating lounger with algae, Himalayan salt or honey butter; special baths and a private spa suite provide moments of togetherness. Ayurvedic health treatments also enrich the spa menu: Abhyanga massages and forehead pours promote inner peace and invigoration of mind and body. Families are also very welcome at the Gartenhotel Moser. The hotel's outdoor area boasts another pool with a water slide and integrated children's pool as well as an indoor pool.

Relaxation in harmony with the elements
Thanks to its close connection with nature, the Gartenhotel Moser is a place of inspiration for mind and body. Hostess Christine Moser knows about the intensive effect of the surrounding power places and is intensively involved with local herbs and the associated medicine. She is happy to pass this knowledge on to her guests in workshops on detoxification, superfoods and medicinal plants. In addition, three yoga and meditation classes are held in the mornings five days a week. Each day of the week is dedicated to an element: on Mondays, for example, everything revolves around the theme of air with courses on correct breathing techniques. Fire, earth and water are further themes under which workshops on movement and relaxation are bundled. Cocoa ceremonies, sound baths and special meditation sessions also take place to accompany special phases of the moon. All offers take place in the Anima yoga room or in the garden or on the lakeshore. From 2024, an in-house fitness trainer will join the team and offer sunrise hikes, aqua fitness and sports classes.

Breaking new ground architecturally
For the redesign of the four-star superior garden hotel, the entire former entrance area gave way to a new, modern building. Visually, it matches the "Ramus" extension built in 2014 and forms an ensemble of several buildings. A linear structure divided into horizontal and vertical elements allows the two parts to merge into a harmonious whole. Authentic, warm and appreciative - this is how the hosts and their team treat their guests and the surrounding nature. The close interweaving with flora and fauna is reflected not only in the large garden, but also in the architecture and energy concept. Natural materials, earthy colors, green areas and a heat recovery system are evidence of a sustainable approach.
The reception and entrance hall shine in an elegant and contemporary style. All public spaces and the new rooms have been architecturally designed with fresh ideas. Functional yet elegant solutions in harmony with the forest and garden are reflected in the building structure as part of the renovation. The entire appearance of the outdoor area with green spaces, natural walkways and pond landscapes is visually adapted to the landscape.

Nature in the bedroom
Guests in the countryside: floor-to-ceiling windows were installed behind the braced façade design. The aim - to capture the surrounding panorama and bring it into the room. From the outside, beige and brown tones define the façade. A similar color scheme enriches the atmosphere in the rooms. There are also deep green tones and floral elements. All new room types have a luxurious bathing area and spacious terraces invite you to take a deep breath outdoors.

Sustainability in a nature reserve
Not only a harmonious ambience, but also a respectful approach to the environment is a major concern for the Moser family. The new building is therefore based on an ecological and sustainable construction method. When selecting the materials, Christine and Wolfang Moser paid particular attention to natural, local elements such as natural wood, stone cladding and clay plaster. In addition, the façades are clad with rhombus slats and vertical wooden elements, which serve as a trellis for plants and green the building. Due to the sensitive area in a nature reserve, bird protection glass was also used to minimize reflective surfaces. From a technological point of view, the hotel impresses with its sustainable construction and environmentally friendly energy measures. The energy supply for the entire building is recovered from the hotel's own waste water system. A special filter-exchanger system extracts the heat from the hotel waste water and uses a heat pump to bring it up to the required temperature level. Solar energy is also incorporated into the energy concept - there is a photovoltaic system in the area of the new flat roof.

Delicacies from their own farm
Farming has always been both a tradition and a passion for the Moser family. Apples, pears and grapes come from their own production. Delicious wines come from the Moser winery and beer from the family brewery, which is located directly in the wine cellar. In the three-quarter board light, which the Gartenhotel Moser offers as standard, local products play the leading role. This includes an extensive breakfast buffet and a "little light lunch" from the show kitchen with hot and cold dishes. Homemade cakes are served in the afternoon and a five-course menu in the evening. Themed specials such as barbecue evenings or fish starter buffets also surprise guests. Once a week, when the dessert buffet is served, those with a sweet tooth get their money's worth.

Active and moving
The wonderful nature that surrounds the Gartenhotel Moser is best experienced actively. Accordingly, the hotel offers numerous opportunities for time out and adventure. The hotel's own lake house with sunbathing lawn on the large Montiggl lake is ideal for swimming, stand-up paddling or canoeing. Thanks to the mild climate, the region is ideal for cycling tours or hiking excursions even in spring. Families with children can enjoy the benefits of childcare up to seven days a week. Active guests also get their money's worth outside the hotel. The area is closely linked to the South Tyrolean Wine Road, which winds through the municipality of Eppan just six kilometers away. The popular Lake Kaltern, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, is just two kilometers away as the crow flies. Many hiking trails, from gentle to challenging, criss-cross the area. The lake hike, which completely circles the large and small Monticolo/Montiggler lakes, is particularly popular. In addition to activities such as canoeing, stand-up paddling or cycling on a mountain bike or e-bike, golf enthusiasts can pursue their passion at the Eppan, Petersberg and Sarnonico golf clubs. Vespas or a speedy Fiat 500 convertible are also available for slightly longer excursions. Tennis fans can practice their serve right in the Montiggl village, while beach volleyball and soccer can be played on the hotel grounds.

An overnight stay costs from 145 euros per person including three-quarter board.

Indoor pool with sluice into a 33° C warm outdoor pool, the water enriched with oxygen. An invigorating sauna world on over 800m² - spacious panorama sauna with soothing infusions, hay sauna, steam sauna and Zirm bio sauna - with water beds in the relaxation zone and spa treatments with authentic "Tirler Alm" spa products. The ingredients are dominated by Swiss stone pine and arnica oil, silver quartzite and pure mountain water from the hotel's own spring.

A fascinating natural landscape of legendary beauty awaits guests: the largest high alpine pasture in Europe surrounded by the magnificent mountain scenery of the Dolomites. Staged by a panorama that almost takes your breath away, guests will find everything their heart desires: hiking from alpine hut to alpine hut through meadows and forests with 3,426 different plant and animal species to discover. Those who prefer something a little more sporty will find an unlimited mountain hiking experience in the majestic Dolomite giants such as Sassolungo and Sassopiatto, Sciliar and the Molignon massif. Mountain bikers can choose from 33 routes with fantastic views and relaxing rest points with rustic huts. And in nearby Castelrotto, golfers will find an 18-hole, 69-par course surrounded by impressive nature with streams, ponds and waterfalls. Families and children will love the sensory trail to the witches' springs, which starts directly at the Tirler. This hiking loop offers a deep experience of unspoiled nature with lots of fun and primal games. The forest above the Tirler becomes an adventure playground and a nature classroom at the same time. Everything is right outside the hotel gate at the Tirler. Right next door is the rustic Tirler Alm, awarded the title of South Tyrol's most beautiful alpine hut. On its large sun terrace, you can relax and recharge your batteries at the same time.

Built largely with materials from the surrounding area, the passive house with its floor-to-ceiling glazing blends harmoniously into the landscape. In the restaurant with sun terrace, you can enjoy culinary delights - regional, seasonal and freshly prepared - with a magnificent panoramic view and accompanied by wines from the hotel's own wine cellar. At the hotel bar you can end the day with cocktails and gin and rum specialties . The library with forest view and the wellness garden at the edge of the forest invite you to browse and relax. Half board: Gourmet breakfast buffet with regional products and delicious egg dishes, afternoon wellness buffet in the restaurant between 13.00h and 16.00h, multi-course evening menu - choose from to to 5-course from the daily changing menu including vegetarian and vegan options. Food allergies and intolerances can be catered for if ordered in advance.
Regionality and seasonality are in the product selection in the kitchen in the foreground . The products used come in part from our own certified organic farm.

The MentalSpa resort offers a paradise of peace and regeneration on over 700m².
