The Bavarian Forest is known as Europe’s most beautiful low mountain landscape, remarkable natural park in Germany and impressive magic forest in Bavaria. When speaking of the forest itself, it is usually meant the breathtaking cultural landscape in the east of Bavaria on the border to Bohemia. Endless hiking trails in untouched nature and a wide range of leisure and cultural activities in every season have made the Bavarian Forest one of the famous family holiday regions in Germany.

The winter in the Bavarian Forest is like a wonderland of forest and snow. Next to you a snow-covered tree top, above you the bright blue sky and in front of you nothing but limitless snow fun - this is winter holidays in the Bavarian Forest. When the first elderflowers can be harvested in early summer, for example, fresh blossoms from many of the employees' gardens are brought to the hotel for processing. Fruit, herbs and berries are also grown locally by the GERSTL Unique team. Here, culinary delights are celebrated in a special way and guests are invited to watch the chefs prepare dinner and collect the delicacies from the kitchen in person. Of course, the hotel has modern card keys, but there are still a few of the beautiful old key rings with the family crest hanging on the hooks. Tradition combined with modern comfort is how you could describe the style of the Alpenhof. This can also be seen in the Almbar, which has much of what is commonly understood by Bavarian coziness. The restaurant area is more elegant. Here you can enjoy the sumptuous breakfast buffet and the magnificent view outside. In the evening, there are various menus to choose from.

The comfort rooms are designed in a variety of ways, sometimes in a modern, sometimes in a classic country house style. The feel-good Sauna-Alm is really rustic, as the sauna area is reminiscent of cozy alpine huts and Stad'l. The infrared cabin made of Swiss stone pine provides gentle deep warmth, the steam bath is filled with wonderful brine and herbal mist and perhaps the best thing to do after a sauna session in the Hütt'n sauna with a view of the valley in winter is to rub yourself down with powder snow in the sheltered outdoor area. Afterwards, you can retreat to the relaxation rooms, which are designed like tunnels in a salt mine or old barns, where you can relax wonderfully. This ancient carpentry technique is no longer found very often. Small carvings on the pillars look very elegant - which is typical of the Alpenhof. Tradition meets modernity and rustic meets elegant. In the outdoor pool, hot meets cold, at least when it's winter and you can swim through the snow-covered landscape. The outdoor pool is heated to a pleasant 30°C all year round, as is the pleasantly warm 37°C whirlpool.

Afterwards, you can lie down in the sun pavilion, look out over the meadows and forests to the mountain peaks and relax. Here, unwinding becomes a tangible reality. And if you haven't had enough exercise while hiking, you're sure to find it in the fitness room with Techno-Gym equipment. Behind the Alpenhof is the Zapletal family. While Stefan Zapletal looks after the hotel with its 52 rooms, his wife Gabi, a trained chef, is in charge of the kitchen. But the most important thing for both of them is their staff. "We provide the frame, our employees paint the picture," says Stefan Zapletal, who is happy to have such a strong team. After all, guests should simply feel at home in this beautiful hotel in the midst of glorious nature.
