South Tyrol - that's the place where Alpine down-to-earthness meets Mediterranean lightness. Where enjoyment and culinary delights are writ large, where the heart is in the right place and where people are simply a little happier - and it is precisely this way of life that Luis Hillebrand, a true South Tyrolean, wants to bring to life - in the middle of the Allgäu. The more than 7,000 square meter garden with two natural lakes, Merano promenade, Kaltern hill and new palm tree infinity pool still form the heart of the complex today.

There is an alpine part with huts made of rustic shingles and an original Ultner herb garden and a Mediterranean part with palm trees and an infinity pool. This is where the two hearts of the South Tyroleans meet, combining Alpine lightness with Mediterranean flair and reflecting the multifaceted landscape of South Tyrol.

The more than 2,500 m² wellness area offers an indoor pool, a whirlpool, a bio sauna, a Finnish sauna, a South Tyrolean organic herbal sauna, a steam bath, forest lounges and a new Merano palm relaxation room.

In the restaurant, Alpine down-to-earthness meets Mediterranean lightness. Delicious dishes with natural ingredients, the herbs come from the hotel's own garden. High-quality products from small producers from our homeland - that's all you need, emphasizes Luis Hillebrand. In the morning the sun rises over the peaks, in the evening the lights sparkle in the valley. In this absolute top location on a sun-drenched south-facing slope above Burgeis, every corner of DAS GERSTL Alpine Retreat opens up views that you will never forget, just like the warm, down-to-earth hospitality of the owner family Gerstl.

At 1,500 meters above sea level, guests can enjoy pleasant temperatures even in the warmer months, while relaxing in the open air on box seats by the 18-meter-long, year-round heated infinity pool, on cosy day beds or in the outdoor whirlpool in the sauna garden. Relax, read a good book, take a dip in one of the pools, let your gaze and thoughts wander - all of this is possible at Hotel Gerstl.

The exclusive suites also invite you to do nothing. The new 60 square meter pool suite with a private infinity pool and whirlpool, a large veranda and its own garden for undisturbed togetherness is certainly a special experience. The pleasant vacation feeling of lightness and light-heartedness spreads at the latest during a floating aperitif in the cool water.

If you do want to leave the retreat, there are hikes to nearby Switzerland, mountain bike trails, irrigation canals along historic irrigation channels or a visit to the smallest town in the Southern Alps: the medieval town of Glurns. The Gerstl team also offers daily guided excursions, from guided e-bike tours to joint forest bathing.

After a day full of activities and fresh mountain air, the evening ends with a delicious, multi-course meal. For all their innovative spirit, the Gerstl family relies on tried and tested dishes: the hotel's regionally oriented cuisine, which sources its products from the surrounding area to support the farmers in the valley and protect the environment with short transportation routes, is already a tradition. Once a week on r30 Day, all ingredients even come from within a radius of no more than thirty kilometers - this is when the creativity of head chef Michael Ziernheld and his team is particularly in demand. It is clear how much everyone is behind this concept. When the first elderflowers can be harvested in early summer, for example, fresh blossoms from many of the employees' gardens are brought to the hotel for processing. Fruit, herbs and berries are also grown locally by the GERSTL Unique team. If you would like to take a look behind the scenes of the Gerstl's gourmet workshop, you can do so at the weekly kitchen party. Here, culinary delights are celebrated in a special way and guests are invited to watch the chefs prepare dinner and collect the delicacies from the kitchen in person. If that's not enough, book an exclusive evening at Gerstl's Chef's Table in the middle of the action in the hotel kitchen.

The extent to which the family is rooted in the region is illustrated not only by the r30 philosophy in the food, but also by its continuation in other areas: Building materials are sourced locally wherever possible and are processed by local craftspeople, the cosmetic products are made from regional ingredients and even the staff almost all come from within a radius of just 30 kilometers.

This is a place where regionality is not just a promise, but a feeling - warm, honest and something to lean on. As soon as you enter, the gentle sounds of nature seem to linger on, enveloping the house in a gentle magic.

In the wellness area, a world opens up that is as calming as a breath of fresh air. The Sky Spa makes you feel lighter with every view over the mountains, while the Finnish sauna, bio sauna and the "Luis Trenker" infrared cabin provide soothing warmth. In the Zirm Spa, the scent of resin and essential oils spreads - the aroma steam bath, the Tyrolean Brechel bath and the relaxation lounge invite you to leave everyday life behind, layer by layer.

On the sun terrace, you can feel the closeness to nature: light, air and silence interweave to create moments of deep relaxation. Here, every minute gives you new strength - like a gentle breath of Alpine spring.

Not only are the hotel's 67 rooms and suites spacious, but also the entire 130,000 square meter hotel park. There is plenty of space in the coastal forest for vacation apartments and separate country houses, many of which are traditionally thatched. Guests decide for themselves how much hotel service they want.

Relaxation and slowing down or sporting power, active vacations and exercise in nature - the boundaries are fluid here, one thing leads to another. Optimal conditions have been created for this: the FISCHLAND SPA- & SPORTWELT with 4500 square meters, which is unparalleled on the Baltic Sea coast. The glass fronts in front of the indoor pool offer a view of the greenery. The sauna area also includes an outdoor sauna in the dunes with access to the Baltic Sea.

Indoor and outdoor tennis court. Badminton. A fitness area equipped with state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment. Yoga, Pilates, circuit training or aqua aerobics - guests can choose from the daily course and activity program. In the open air, there are tennis and badminton courts, a fitness trail through the forest and bike hire. In summer, kitesurfing and surfing are practiced on the hotel beach. A special experience: tennis on the dunes. Golf courses and riding arenas are not far away either; the hotel cooperates with regular partners. Underthe direction of sports manager Axel Ritter, beginners and advanced are advised and accompanied by experts. The distances are short, the barriers low to enjoy sport at your own pace or under professional guidance. Also for the youngest: qualified childcare for 3 to 16-year-olds is available at least 5 days a week.

The Fischland shares thedunes, pine forest and long beachwith its sister hotel, the Strandhotel Dünenmeer. Guests can enjoy all of the resort's amenities on both sides. The 800 meters between the hotels can be bridged by a shuttle service if required - or a walk. Fine, fresh and healthy cuisine is part of the program: guests can try out all the restaurants and bars during "Dining around" - from the family restaurant in "Fischland" to the "Strandläufer" in "Dünenmeer", even directly in the dunes - in "Blockhus" or "Strandbude". The "Ostseelounge" on the "Fischland" rooftop is the pinnacle of indulgence: André Beiersdorff and Matthias Stolze's modern regional cuisine is adorned with a Michelin star.
