An established hotel: the Riedlberg has been owned by the Graßl and Mühlbauer families since 1912 and has been carefully expanded from a small mountain inn to a 4-star superior wellness hotel, yet has remained manageable with 58 rooms and suites.

In 2023, the climate-positive Naturhotel Leitlhof was awarded the title of "Europe's Leading Green Hotel" for the fourth time and can once again call itself an official "climate partner". The hotel also meets the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. The commitment to nature and climate protection includes the energy supply with its own wood-fired combined heat and power plant, electric car charging stations and local suppliers.

South Tyrolean slow food in its most original form
The cuisine at Naturhotel Leitlhof is sustainable, regional and seasonal. The chefs use freshly picked herbs from their own garden to refine their dishes. The nearby farm "Mühlhof", which also belongs to the Mühlmann family, provides the hotel with many types of vegetables and potatoes from its own fields. These ingredients are used to cover all the kitchen requirements. The high-quality meat also comes directly from the farm - from the hotel's own Angus cattle farm.

As a member of "Wanderhotels - best alpine", the nature hotel is the ideal starting point for hikes, mountain and trekking tours. The trails into the world-famous Sesto Dolomites start right outside the door. The hotel's own hiking map with tips from local guides and two certified guides show Leitlhof guests the most beautiful routes off the beaten track several times a week. Tip: Hike to the Toblacher Pfannhorn at 2,663 meters.

Since 2023, Leitlhof guests have been enjoying the 3,000 square meter wellness area in the South Tyrolean four-star superior hotel. The newly designed spa landscape attracts visitors with highlights such as the Japanese-style onsen pool, the black Finnish sauna and the fragrant Swiss stone pine sauna. The omnipresent panoramic view of the Dolomites makes the wellness experience even sweeter. Just a ten-minute walk from the Naturhotel Leitlhof (and three minutes from the second hotel, Atto Suites & Cuisine), the historic center of San Candido surprises with its culture and long-established craft businesses. The collegiate church, Franciscan monastery and the famous DoloMythos Museum in the pedestrian zone take visitors on a journey through time between the World Heritage Site and the Middle Ages. Cozy felt slippers have been rolled at the Zacher hat maker's workshop for generations.

By bike and train through Val Pusteria/Pustertal
Val Pusteria/Pustertal in the north-east of South Tyrol is a paradise for two-wheeled enthusiasts thanks to its numerous attractive routes, some of which even cross borders. Guests of the Naturhotel Leitlhof can hire bikes and mountain bikes free of charge at the hotel, e-bikes for a fee. With the Mobilcard, buses and trains can be used free of charge throughout South Tyrol. Among the most beautiful routes are those to the Sesto mountain pastures and to Cortina d'Ampezzo - guided bike tours regularly take Leitlhof guests there.

There is an alpine part with huts made of rustic shingles and an original Ultner herb garden and a Mediterranean part with palm trees and an infinity pool. This is where the two hearts of the South Tyroleans meet, combining Alpine lightness with Mediterranean flair and reflecting the multifaceted landscape of South Tyrol.

The more than 2,500 m² wellness area offers an indoor pool, a whirlpool, a bio sauna, a Finnish sauna, a South Tyrolean organic herbal sauna, a steam bath, forest lounges and a new Merano palm relaxation room.

Its secluded location at 700 meters provides the necessary distance from everyday life. Up here, surrounded by meadows and forests and a few scattered old farms, the clocks go slower. It's as if the good old days are hiding up here. You can forget the hustle and bustle and stress, they don't come up here. The Watzmann outside shows us how it's done - calmly reminding us of what's really important in life: Taking time for yourself and your loved ones. At the 4-star superior hotel, you are always in the right place. This starts with the hut-style reception. Of course, the hotel has modern card keys, but there are still a few of the beautiful old key rings with the family crest hanging on the hooks. Tradition combined with modern comfort is how you could describe the style of the Alpenhof. This can also be seen in the Almbar, which has much of what is commonly understood by Bavarian coziness. The restaurant area is more elegant. Here you can enjoy the sumptuous breakfast buffet and the magnificent view outside. In the evening, there are various menus to choose from.

The comfort rooms are designed in a variety of ways, sometimes in a modern, sometimes in a classic country house style. The feel-good Sauna-Alm is really rustic, as the sauna area is reminiscent of cozy alpine huts and Stad'l. The infrared cabin made of Swiss stone pine provides gentle deep warmth, the steam bath is filled with wonderful brine and herbal mist and perhaps the best thing to do after a sauna session in the Hütt'n sauna with a view of the valley in winter is to rub yourself down with powder snow in the sheltered outdoor area. Afterwards, you can retreat to the relaxation rooms, which are designed like tunnels in a salt mine or old barns, where you can relax wonderfully. The adjoining wellness oasis offers an all-round pampering program. The various massages and treatments provide true wellness pleasure. In addition to classic massages, there are Far Eastern SPA massages, Ayurveda massages and special massages for expectant mothers. The cosmetics department uses the organic cosmetics line from Dr. Spiller, an effective skincare line from the region.

Next door in the indoor pool, you should definitely take a leisurely lap on your back and take a look at the hand-carved wooden ceiling. This ancient carpentry technique is no longer found very often. Small carvings on the pillars look very elegant - which is typical of the Alpenhof. Tradition meets modernity and rustic meets elegant. In the outdoor pool, hot meets cold, at least when it's winter and you can swim through the snow-covered landscape. The outdoor pool is heated to a pleasant 30°C all year round, as is the pleasantly warm 37°C whirlpool.

Afterwards, you can lie down in the sun pavilion, look out over the meadows and forests to the mountain peaks and relax. Here, unwinding becomes a tangible reality. And if you haven't had enough exercise while hiking, you're sure to find it in the fitness room with Techno-Gym equipment. Behind the Alpenhof is the Zapletal family. While Stefan Zapletal looks after the hotel with its 52 rooms, his wife Gabi, a trained chef, is in charge of the kitchen. But the most important thing for both of them is their staff. "We provide the frame, our employees paint the picture," says Stefan Zapletal, who is happy to have such a strong team. After all, guests should simply feel at home in this beautiful hotel in the midst of glorious nature.
