May is the time when spruces and firs produce young shoots, the so-called Maiwipferl.
They contain valuable essential oils, resins and plenty of vitamin C. Among other things, they can inhibit pathogenic bacteria through their antiseptic effect.Above all, however, the young shoots have great healing powers for coughs and they promote the removal of mucus from the respiratory tract.
Ingredients for the syrup:
Maiwipferl
whole cane sugar
1 mason jar (for bottling)
Preparation: The content of the glass is layered with the ingredients.Ideally, use twice the amount of Wipferl as sugar. The first and the top layer should be sugar. Then close the jar and leave in a sunny place for about 2 weeks and then in the shade for another month. When the time comes, filter the syrup and pour into light-protected amber bottles and refrigerate.
Tip: The healthy, natural syrup is particularly suitable for children because of its sweet taste.
Important: In order not to damage the tree, the tops should be picked from the side branches and not from the top!!!!!
